Reports: North Korean Forces Detain American Soldier Who Crossed Border

The United Nations Command announced on Tuesday that communist North Korea detained an American citizen after he reportedly crossed the Military Demarcation Line (MDL), the border between North and South Korea. A senior U.S. official told Fox News on Tuesday morning that the individual is an American soldier.

South Korea's military has fired warning shots at North Korean guards searching for a soldier who defected. The DMZ is one of the world's most heavily guarded strips of land.

North Korea Shows Maskless Faces in State Media, a Pandemic Milestone

Analysts and South Korean journalists noted this week that North Korea’s state television and its state newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, began publishing photos of official events featuring maskless communist officials, a sign that the years-old sanitary mask mandate imposed to prevent the spread of Wuhan coronavirus may be ending.
